Shellfish Culture Project Manager

Suquamish Seafood Enterprises (SSE) is looking for a Project Manager to begin a shellfish aquaculture program that focuses on the commercial culture of Manila clams, cultch oysters, and single oysters. SSE is in the first stages of expanding their business product line into cultured shellfish, as our major product now is the marketing and packing of wild harvested geoduck clams.

Major areas of responsibility:

Inter-tidal seeding of bivalve shellfish: Forecasting seed needs, preparing tidal areas for line and bag culture.
Maintaining and monitoring cultivated areas: predator control, graveling, transplanting, etc.
Records: Maintain accurate records of all seeded areas.
Supervising work crew: In charge of scheduling and maintaining efficient work crew to assist in the seeding of inter-tidal areas.
Budget: In charge of monitoring seeding plan budget.
Computer skills in recording data and maintaining databases desirable.
Working with and coordinating closely with governmental tribal departments necessary and required.
Project Manager responsible for maintenance and repair of project equipment.

Job requirements

College Degree in Shellfish Biology and/or related field strongly desired.
3 years experience in shellfish bivalve aquaculture required.
Ability to work independently.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Excellent Communicator
21 years or older and must possess a valid Washington State Driver License and be insurable.
Must pass Drug Screen test before being hired.

Salary, Wages and Benefits

Position is full-time with benefits
Compensation up to $35.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.
